on august 29, no.100 vlcc of 308,000dwt, built by dsic of china state shipbuilding corporation for china merchants energy shipping corporation(cmes), successfully completed sea trial. equipped with the second generation of sails, the ship is a model of the new generation energy-saving and consumption reducing ships.
equipped with two pairs of hard airfoil sails
the ship is equipped with two pairs of hard airfoil sails, which are independently developed by dsic, cmes, china ship scientific research center, ccs, the chinese society of naval architects and marine engineers, dalian maritime university, dalian university of technology and china institute of marine technology and economy, etc.. the sail blades are made of carbon fiber composite material for the first time, which has the characteristics of light weight, high strength and high marine environment resistance. the highly autonomous intelligent control system has significantly improved the adaptability of sail to the complex operating conditions of ships and the efficiency of sail operation.
sea trial integrity reached new high
it is the first time that carbon fiber composite material is applied for sail blades of sail phase ii project, which has the characteristics of new material and process. with tight time and heavy task, the project team and relevant shipbuilding department planned scientifically, organized efficiently and carried out orderly to overcome the adverse situation of epidemic situation and manpower shortage. the installation period of four sets of sails was only 15 days, the commissioning period of control system was 20 days, and more than 400 sail system alarm points were handed over for inspection, ensuring that the trial nodes were realized on schedule. for the first time, the ballast tank strength test was completed before the sea trial. pre-trial integrity reached a new high.
all items submitted for inspection were passed at one time
during the sea trial, the headquarters arranged the delivery and inspection order in a scientific and efficient way, integrating the sail test items with the conventional sea trial items, and all 66 delivery and inspection items passed the application for inspection at one time. the sail performance verification has passed the low position optimization and sail raising optimization tests. the fuel consumption of the real ship has been significantly reduced, achieving the design energy-saving indicator and the project development goal for engineering application. the trial period was 7 days to complete all the acceptance projects, realizing an important node of the scientific research project of "engineering application of aerofoil sail boost system".
the party branch with the project
in order to ensure the smooth construction of the sail project, dsic, the shipowner and inspector have established temporary party branch for the sail project, giving full play to the role of the party organization as a battleground and the vanguard model of the party members, conducting labor competition, bringing the party members and masses together involved in the construction, and working together to tackle the difficulties, which has effectively guaranteed the smooth progress of the sail project construction.
