in golden autumn, dsic has seized golden opportunity for shipbuilding production to have realized many a milestone smoothly, including one vessel for delivery and three ones for steel cutting. the steel cutting was conducted for no.64 308k dwt vlcc constructed for cosco dalian august 28; no. 42 180k dwt bulk carrier “hl harmony” constructed for frontatlantic inc. was signed for delivery on august 31; also the steel cutting was conducted for no.66 and 67 308k dwt vlccs constructed for shandong landbridge group on september 1.
no.64 308k dwt vlcc is the new type of 300k dwt-class crude oil carrier, redeveloped by a team work between dsic and cosco dalian, based on international benchmarking of advanced level, and new ideas of energy efficiency and green initiative, for which a patent design is adopted for sediment proof ballast tanks to reduce the comprehensive desilting rate effectively. no.66 and 67 308k dwt vlccs in series are constructed for shandong landbridge group by dsic, where no.65 308k dwt vlcc, also one of its sister vessels, is now under smooth construction. no.42 180k dwt bulk carrier is loa 292m, breadth molded 45m, depth molded 24.8m, and scantling draft 18.3m, divided into 9 holds, capable of loading dry bulk cargo including coal, grain and iron ore. g-type main engine is first adopted on board the vessel with excellent comprehensive energy saving effect. after sea trial, major economic and technical index have all reached or exceeded design requirements, with all performances in good function, in compliance with relevant rules and regulations, and up to the international advanced level.
there have been many highlights in the stage of water construction of no.42 180k dwt bulk carrier: first, the building quality of transverse welding seams has been accepted by the class surveyors, who spot checked 112m transverse welding seams on board the vessel, only to find that all have passed once; second, it is first time for hydraulic oil flushing of forecastle deck machinery to have passed the examination once, laying good foundation for mounting anchor chains on water; third, part of items have enjoyed exemption from inspection. with an effective control of internal check, the load water line of this vessel has been accomplished for acceptance test on water, with the pre-launching items of boiling out, cathodic protection insulation measurement and f.o. overfill tank closing exempted from inspection.
