on the afternoon of august 16th, the 300,000-ton vlcc no.80 built by dsic for china merchants energy shipping co., ltd. was undocked successfully, laying a solid foundation for the demonstration application of the model ship with wind-sail in the real vlcc project in later period. next, system installation, commissioning and other relevant work will be carried out for the ship.
dsic is the first shipyard to build vlcc in china, and is also the shipyard with the highest construction performance of vlcc in china. in recent years, dsic has developed the new ship types in 6 generations and 8 types successively, and has obtained 93 orders. the construction quantity has already amounted to more than 10% of the global vlcc fleet. dsic’s “vlcc fleet” has already enjoyed the reputation in the world.
the project of “demonstration application development of wind-sail technology” is a national high-tech ship r&d plan led by dsic, and is an innovative and important project about the main ship type focusing on energy conservation and emission reduction, which has been approved by the national ministry of industry and information. it is the first time to implement the application in real vlcc at home. in the project, no matter the size of the wind-sail prototype, or the tonnage of the ship to be installed, is an innovative project and has filled the void home and aboard. since the construction of the wind-sail prototype was started on september 1st, 2017, dsic has organized the participating research units to overcome a lot of technical problems such as the development process technology, process flow and process equipment, and completed important nodes such as the production of structural components and ground-based tests. recently, the first wind-sail prototype was successfully developed and the ground-based test was completed successfully. the important node of the wind-sail project was realized as planned, which made the project get important achievement for the stage and created favorable conditions for the following tasks of actual ship installation, commissioning and sailing demonstration.
