on aug. 12, dsic held the delivery ceremony of fpso guanabara mv31 refitted for singapore modec company. both parties’ representatives signed the completion certificate for the project. mr. eric powell, chief operation officer of singapore modec company joined in the ceremony in the way of online video. mr. guo jianing, the representative of petroleo brasileiro s.a dispatched to dsic, mr. gareth gill, the project manager of modec mv31, mr. lin jiming, the vice general manager of dsic and the responsible persons of relevant organizations joined in the ceremony on site.
fpso guanabara mv31 project is one of the biggest fpso projects which are carried out in the world currently. the project was generally contracted by modec company and then leased to petroleo brasileiro s.a after completion, serving brazil libra oilfield. this fpso was named as fpso guanabara mv31, which was refitted from a vlcc. its designed capacity is to deal with 180,000 buckets of crude oil, 0.424 billion standard cubic feet lng per day and 225,000 buckets of water injection rate per day. the storage capacity is 1,400,000 buckets of crude oil and service water depth is about 2100 m. this is a project which has set many records. the project is carried out in one ship which is integrated with hull transformation, module construction and module assembly for the first time in the world. it’s an innovation of construction mode, also modec’s sufficient trust in dsic. many indexes such as top module of nearly 40,000 ton, flare tower of 140m high, gas handling capacity of 12,000,000 m3 and 9 gas turbines have become the champion records on weight, height, size and quantity in the field of fpso currently. the delivery enjoys the highest integrity and many important marine debugging tests have been finished before sailing and good opening has created for marine connection.
this is a project full of challenges and it’s difficult to imagine a hull of nearly 100,000 ton, millions of components, large quantity and complex projects. test pressure of 1000 kg for pipelines, valves of more than ten ton and free paths all over the whole ship mean a severe test to dsic’s professional standards. besides, corona virus which has spread all over the world and still not ended as yet, has brought great influences to supply of materials and invitation of service providers. finishing installation work with high precision and high complexity in the way of remote video has also become an unique scenery line for this project. various special types of work such as spiderman and diver have been done together and such projects as huge hoisting, pressure test and flaw detection and special coating for big tank have worked day and night. during this period, prevention from corona virus, fight against typhoon and severe winter and hot summer, and hard work day and night have gathered every participant’s hard work and devotion. this is a project opening a new era. fpso guanabara mv31 project is a beginning of strategic cooperation between dsic and modec. its completion and delivery mean dsic’s important success in the field of fpso, another bright pearl in the shipbuilding industry and the cooperation between dsic and modec in the field of fpso towards a new prospect.
