on june 15, dsic held the bottoming ceremony for bacalhau floating production, storage and offloading hull and living building project (fpso-8), marking the formal construction in dock.
the bacalhau fpso is the seventh fpso built by dsic. it is the first cooperation between dsic and world-famous fpso contractor modec and world-famous oil company equinor. the project is m350 fpso jointly developed by dsic and modec. dsic is responsible for the basic design, detailed design, production design and construction of fpso floating body and living quarter. it is classified as dnv·gl and hoisted bahamas flag. it is the first super-large marine project in the world designed according to the latest dnv·gl 2019 specification. it is a comprehensive large offshore oil production base integrating personnel residence and production command system for oil extraction, oil and gas separation, treatment of oily sewage, power generation, heat supply, storage and transportation of crude oil products. the oil fields are block bm-s-8 in the santos basin and block north carcara in brazil.
fpso-8 is 339.50m in length, 64m in width, 33m in depth and 22.65m in design draught. the floating body is non-self-propelled with no spherical bow. it adopts oblique bow, square stern, no drive system such as main engine and rudder propeller, multi-point mooring system positioning mode, which involves high technical specifications, high quality requirements and complex interface.
the project has a huge amount of construction materials. 583 sections will be assembled in dock and 196 sections will be closed. among them, the amount of iron outfitting, pipe outfitting and cable construction is heavy, and the pipe weight of the whole ship is 2000 tons. the total length of the cable is about 800000 meters. the special coating area is about 880000 square meters, and there are many kinds of equipment and materials, including multi-point anchoring, riser support, aircraft platform support, seawater lifting support, deep well pump and other equipment installation, which bring great challenges to the construction accuracy, manpower demand and construction management. at the same time, welding requirements, coating requirements, material requirements, design and construction must be able to realize that the platform only needs low degree of maintenance in the oil field, so as to ensure that it will not dock for 30 years.
since the beginning of the project, with years of experience in building large ships, dsic has consolidated its foundation and explored its potential. with the efficient and equal communication with modec and the careful help of equinor, dsic has successfully achieved the bottom node. in the future, dsic will build the production line into a model that can meet the international oil and gas industry standards and practices, and deliver a satisfactory answer to equinor and modec.
