the 308k dwt vlcc “new vitality” with installation of wind sail of which ccs participated in research and inspection was named and delivered successfully in dsic on nov. 13, 2018. ccs vice president zhong xiaojin, ccs dalian branch general manager tian dongming and deputy general manager wang baochun attended the ceremony.
the new power ship is the second of six vlcc sister ships built by dsic for china merchants energy shipping co.. it is classified into ccs single class, which means ccs performs classification and statutory inspection. this ship is the global first vlcc installed auxiliary propulsion device for experimental sail . it is a demonstration ship of the key scientific research projects of the ministry of industry and information technology led by dsic and participated in the research and inspection by ccs. the successful delivery of the ship marks that the r & d team has accomplished the engineering application of wind sail aboard vlcc with high quality, filled the international gap, and is a major innovative technological achievement of the cooperation between relevant research institutes in domestic shipbuilding and shipping industry.
the project of installing wind sail on large ships is a national key scientific research project. as an important member of the r&d team, ccs undertakes the determination and evaluation of safety technical standards and the verification of the compliance of the real ship. during the implementation of the demonstration ship project, ccs adopted innovative working modes and methods in the face of new and innovative design, and completed a large number of work, such as design evaluation, fabrication inspection, on-board post-installation inspection and testing. ccs not only ensures the safety of ships through compliance verification of real ships, but also successfully constructs the safety technical standards for the application of sail technology. the establishment of this standard system is the first in the domestic industry and has become a strong support for the original sail technology in china.
